Chicago-based Telefon Tel Aviv and the Race graced Austin at the Mohawk with their presence on September 21, 2009.
Telefon Tel Aviv’s Joshua Eustis put on an amazing performance with his psychedelic ambient sound. This was a very emotional performance for Josh and fans as he dedicated his performance to former member Charles Cooper (April 12, 1977-January 22, 2009). They had the chemistry only two friends could have and made amazing music that felt good to them. It is sad that I never got to see them perform together but it was a privilege to see Telefon Tel Aviv carry on and perform in Austin. Even after a loss of a best friend, Josh seemed collected throughout the performance and the crowd commended him with supporting applause. After the show he greeted fans with modesty and humility, talking with everyone, taking pictures, and meeting the fans that came out to see him perform. Joshua and Charlie saw the world together and even after such a tremendous loss, Telefon Tel Aviv continues to play strong.
